I have been an Art Educator for ten years, working with children
grades K-12. I am also a homeschool mother to 4 children. I like to design my own lesson plans for each class by pulling from a variety of resources. Incorporating the elements
of art and principals of design, each class project teaches technique and offers experiences with a variety of materials. These projects are chosen so that students will have success and
become confident with their God-given creative abilities no matter what
their skill level. I am excited about the arts and my hope is to inspire students and their artistic endeavors. I love to hear from my readers so please leave your comments or contact me by email at genasmith4@gmail.com .
I have created this blog to give parents a peek into the classroom and to assist them in finding materials that the student may enjoy and want to explore further at home. This blog is also a way for me to contribute to the art educating community, as art blogs have been extremely helpful to me in my own teaching. Each year, I have a different focus in art, such as Great American Artists, Mixed Media, Drawing Skills, and Art Around the World. There will be more themes to come as I really love to keep it interesting and offer new projects that will help students grow artistically.
I hope that you find ideas that you want to try as an art teacher and if so, please link back to my blog post for that particular lesson instead of copying and pasting my pictures and lesson plan. There is a tutorial on how to do this at my3boybarians.com and it describes it very clearly.
